BORDER TOWN
An ongoing series begun in Brazil in 2001, Border Town articulates the sinister emptinesses of devastated and unclaimed spaces. A building crumbling into decay after a volcanic eruption in Iceland, sheared homes unspared by hurricane and blistering sun in New Orleans, Louisiana, and eerie sidewalks and benches denuded of people in Guajará-Mirim, Brazil all speak to the ruthlessness of abandonment. The photos are not unlike crimes scenes from dreams, with the crime unspecified and unknowable, though its unsettling terror remains.
