America: A Reverie

Exhibition (October 1st—December 15th, 2012) at the CUNY Graduate Center for Journalism

Conversation with Brian Wallis at the CUNY, New York, NY December 6th, 2012.

In the summer of 2010, photographer Lena Herzog traveled to Washington, D.C., to document Glenn Beck’s Restore Honor Rally, while photographer Marc Valesella traveled to Arizona to capture the protests around the Support Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act (SB 1070), an immigration law criticized for racial profiling. They both had the same idea in mind: to document the rallies that define the social and political climate since the historic election of Barack Obama. Join us on the eve of the next presidential election for America: A Reverie, a stirring trip into the dark side of the American Dream. The talk was moderated by Brian Wallis, the chief curator of the International Center of Photography.
